Silversides Operational Timeline

8 Aug 1942 USS Silversides sank Japanese freighter Nikkei Maru off southern Honshu island, Japan.
20 Jan 1943 USS Silversides attacked a Japanese convoy 286 miles from Truk, Caroline Islands en route to the Solomon Islands, sinking transport Meiu Maru and damaging Surabaya Maru. The latter would later be scuttled by destroyer Asagumo.

This submarine was anchored at Chicago's Navy Pier in the late 1950s. My Boy Scout troop 682 was given a tour.
