ww2dbaseThe Cannone da 90/53 anti-aircraft guns were designed and manufactured by the Italian armament firm Ansaldo starting in 1939. Each gun was crewed by six men. They were considered very capable both in anti-aircraft roles as well as in anti-tank roles, but Italy's relatively weak manufacturing capabilities meant only 539 would be built by the time of the 1943 Italian armistice. 48 of the guns built were converted for mounting on self-propelled guns (namely, Semovente 90/53 heavy tank destroyers). After the armistice, the Germans captured a few and pressed them into service under the designation 9 cm Flak 309/1(i).Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
