ww2dbaseThe Fucile Mitragliatore Breda modello 1930, or Breda M30 for short, were the standard light machine guns of the Italian Army during WW2. They were first introduced in 1930, and production continued through the Italian Armistice until the end of the European War in 1945. They had an unique design in that they were fired from a close bolt, within which a small lubricating device sprayed oil on each cartridge as it entered the chamber; design flaws made this close bolt design vulnerable to debris, making them unreliable in the North African theater that was constantly plagued by sand. Additionally, they also had a slow rate of fire when compared with their contemporaries.Source: Wikipedia. ww2dbase
