ww2dbaseKimon Georgiev Stoyanov was a member of the right-wing Zveno movement that overthrew the government in Jun 1934, after which he was named prime minister. Following the model of Benito Mussolini in Italy, he abolished all political parties and trade unions to consolidate the power of the government. In 1935, a rival coup d'etat brought down Georgiev and he went in exile. During WW2, he joined the communist Fatherland Front movement that fought against the Axis Bulgarian government. In Sep 1944 the Fatherland Front committed a coup d'etat and Georgiev became prime minister again. After the war, he remained in politics, holding positions such as Vice Premier and Foreign Minister, until his retirement in 1962.
