Dutch East Indies

Japan Korea
  • American troops landed at Inchon, Korea to prevent the Soviet Union from breaking the previous agreement for Soviet troops to only occupy northern Korea. The US commanding officer, Lieutenant General John Hodge, also arrived on the same day.
