ww2dbaseThe first of the Ar 95 seaplanes first took light in 1936, and not longer after six of them were sent to Spain for evaluation by the Condor Legion during the Spanish Civil War. Ultimately, Arado would fail to secure a contract with the German miltiary. Turning abroad, they sold and delivered six Ar 95 aircraft to Chile and several more to Turkey. Those sold to Turkey were not completed by the start of the European War in 1939, and they were requisitioned by the German Navy for training and coastal reconnaissance purposes. Those under German control remained in use until late 1944. The Ar 95 design served as the foundation for the subsequent Ar 195 design.
