ww2dbaseThe German 17 cm Kanone 18 heavy howitzers (17 cm K 18 for short), built by Krupp and Hannoversche Maschinenbau, were heavy corps-level guns. In the field, they delivered great damage, but they also had a great disadvantage of requiring a long period of time to tear down for transport, thus during the latter part of the war many of the K 18 crews sabotaged their own guns in the face of advancing Allied and Soviet forces to prevent capture; many examples were indeed captured.Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
