ww2dbaseThe Fucile Mitragliatore Breda Modello 1937, or Breda M37 for short, was adopted by the Italian Army in 1937 as the standard machine gun. They were designed in 1936 to replace the unreliable Breda M30 light machine guns, though the two different models often served side-by-side as Breda M37 machine guns never truly resolved the reliability issues of the Breda M30 light machine guns. Production of the Breda M37 machine guns stopped in 1943 as Italy surrendered to the Allies, but they remained in use by the Italian Army until the 1960s.Source: Wikipedia. ww2dbase
