ww2dbaseArisaka Type 99 bolt-action rifles were put in production in Japan, Korea (Jinsen), and China (Mukden) in 1939 in large numbers, quickly becoming the standard rifle of the Japanese Army until the end of the war. These rifles served concurrently as the older Type 38 design during WW2. Production ceased in 1945 with the Japanese surrender.Source: Wikipedia. ww2dbase

my dad brought back an arisaka 99 from iwo when he was there and i was wondering if there was a database using the rifle's serial #'s to try and verify that claim? thanks, mike.
