My uncle "Bob" Robert Lee Martin served as radar man aboard the Smalley in 1944 & "45, he wasn't even 18 yet when they fired on Okinawa, he turned 18 on July 10th 1945, my Grandpa had to go with him & sign for him so he could join up ! He was still 17 & spotting enemy targets on his Radar !
