ww2dbaseAbbie Rowe was born in Strasburg, Virginia, United States in 1905. Childhood affliction with poliomyelitis left him partly crippled. In 1930, he became a photographer with the US Bureau of Public Roads, and in the late 1930s served in a similar role with the National Park Service of the US Department of the Interior. After the American entry into WW2, he became one of US President Franklin Roosevelt's photographers, initially during his travels around the country, but gradually expanding to cover official White House events as well. He continued to serve in a similar capacity under subsequent presidents Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, and Lyndon Johnson. He passed away in Apr 1967.
