8 of Doolittle’s sixteen B-25B Mitchell bombers are parked within view, as are 3 of Hornet’s SBD Dauntless scout bombers. Hornet's midship elevator, torpedo elevator, arresting gear, and flight deck barriers are seen in the lower portion of the photo with a 1.1" quad anti-aircraft machine gun mount at left.
