DID YOU KNOW:
American actor AKA(William Lawrence Russell) John Russell famous for his 1960s TV Western Series "Lawman" fought at Guadalcanal.
Russell joined the US Marines in 1942 during that campaign, he was wounded, decorated for valor and earned a battlefield commission
to lieutenant.
He received an Honorable Discharged in 1944 after recovering from wounds and disease.
After WWII, he came to the attention of a hollywood talent scout, he played heavies and supporting roles in television and film. Russell died in 1991.

The litter bearer standing in the back ground to the left is my father, Pfc. Albert Stoltzman. He and others carried wounded down the jungle trails of Guadalcanal in some cases for miles.
