- USS Cod rescued the crew of the grounded Dutch submarine O-19. Upon completion, she scuttled the grounded boat by gunfire. ww2dbase [Cod | CPC]
- The Brazilian cruiser Bahia exploded and sank in the North Atlantic, with the loss of nearly 300 men. Whilst most likely an accident a theory persisted that she had been torpedoed by a German U-boats fleeing to South America. ww2dbase [AC]
