- Submarine USS Narwhal unloaded 60 tons of cargo and 37 passengers off Colipapa on Negros in the Philippines. - While escorting the Lingayen Gulf invasion force into the Sulu Sea, destroyers USS Taylor and USS Nicholas attacked a Japanese midget submarine that had fired two torpedoes at the ships.
