Raid on Gorkiy

4 Jun 1943 - 1 Jul 1943

Contributor:

ww2dbaseAiming to damage Russian industrial capacity, large numbers of bombers were sent to raid Russian industrial complexes in the Povolzhye, with Gorkiy as the primary target. Although the month-long raid slowed Russian production, overall the raids were largely ineffective, and as time will prove the bombers lost during these raids were more cost to the German war effort than the damage they have inflicted.
