ww2dbaseIn Jun 1940, the United States Army began developing a heavy artillery gun capable of firing at the range of 33,500 yards (30,600 meters). It was not until 1944 when the 8 inch Gun M1 design entered production, though only in small numbers due to continued troubles with bore wear and poor accuracy.
