ww2dbaseThe Canon de 85 modèle 1927 Schneider field guns were designed by the French firm Schneider-Creusot (forerunner of the modern-day firm Schneider Electric) between 1925 and 1927. Schneider also manufactured these guns. A small number of these guns were sold to Japan for testing, but Greece would become the main buyer of this design, where it was known as Field Gun Schneider Model 85mm (Model 1925). They saw action during the Italian invasion, the counter offensive into Albania, and the German invasion. After Axis occupation of Greece began, captured examples were pressed into German service under the designation 8.5 cm Kanonehaubitze 287(g).Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
