ww2dbaseRealizing that the Type 94 37-millimeter anti-tank guns were becoming obsolete against modern sloped and thicker armor, the Japanese Army developed the Type 1 37-millimeter anti-tank gun in 1941. These weapons were essentially the same as the Type 94 predecessors, but with a longer barrel both the range and armor penetration capabilities were improved. Nevertheless, they did not consistently penetrate the armor of the M4 Sherman tanks that the Americans soon fielded in large quantities. Between 1941 and 1945, about 2,300 Type 1 anti-tank guns were produced.Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
