ww2dbaseThe BL 4.5 inch Medium field guns were designed as replacement of the older 60-pounder guns. They were first deployed to the British Army in 1938. In the first years of the European War, they saw service with British forces in France, Greece, and North Africa. By the final year of the European War, they saw common service with Canadian forces as well. They were manned by crews of 10 men, and typically fire two rounds per minute; when necessary, with skilled crews, they could achieve three rounds per minute. BL 4.5 inch Medium field guns were relegated to a training role in 1945, and they were withdrawn completely in 1959.Source: Wikipedia ww2dbase
