Type 4 Chi-To

CountryJapan
Primary RoleMedium Tank

Contributor:

ww2dbaseThe Type 4 Chi-To medium tanks were developed between 1942 and 1944 (with interruption) with some input from German tank crew veterans. They were equipped with large 75-millimeter tank guns. Lack of raw materials and Allied bombings of industrial sites meant only six chassis would be produced before the Pacific War ended, and only two of the six were completed. Both of them were retain in the Japanese home islands for the defense of the Allied invasion that never came. None of them were ever used in combat.
