i assume you know about the book, Silent Running by James F. Calvert? It mentions your father.

My dad Steve Smolyn passed away March 19, 2020. He served on the Jack in WW2. I can’t imagine many of those brave men are still alive today, true heroes!

My father Lester V Smith,served as crew on Uss Jack during WW2. He is alive at 95 years. He was an electrician mate among others.

My uncle Norman McCall served on the Jack in ww2. He is still alive 99 yrs old. Anyone still out there?

My grandfather served on the Jack, there is a great book Admiral Calvert wrote called Silent Runnings... Its a great book with some really good photos of the crew. I actually found my grandfather in the one.
