Full Title: Normandy: A Graphic History of D-Day, The Allied Invasion of Hitler's Fortress Europe

I had been reading a big book for the past few weeks (the title would be revealed in the near future!) and this afternoon I just wanted a break. Running through my piles of yet-to-read books, I spotted something small and chuckled. A comic book! As expected, Normandy: A Graphic History of D-Day was a lot of fun. The familiar concise and to-the-point sentences, colorful illustrations, and the overly-dramatic scenes were all things that we have grown to enjoy in graphic novels. What was somewhat surprising was the author/artist Wayne Vansant's attention to historical detail, in which little things that casual history readers might not know were included, such as the difficulties of new replacements fitting into a unit in the field and Adolf Hitler's dabbling into military planning. While I had some complaints about the over-abundance of Tiger tanks and the glorification of armed conflicts, I still enjoyed Vansant's graphical story telling of the Allied advance from the coasts of Normandie to Paris. Not quite suitable for younger readers, perhaps this would interest teenage readers or the young-at-heart who would still reminisce about the days when collecting comic books was a common hobby.
