ww2dbaseBogdan Dimitrov Filov was educated in Germany. As a well-known professor in Bulgaria, he was recruited into King Boris III's government, eventually rising to become the prime minister in 1940. He favored allying a world power such as Germany, but did not agree with Germany's expansionist policies, and tried to keep Bulgaria out of the war as much as possible. After Boris' death in 1943, he lost his post as prime minister and became a member of the regency council. The regency was broken up when a new government was formed in 1944, and he was arrested by the communists who took control of the new government. Filov was executed as a collaborationist in 1945.
