ww2dbaseEvripidis Bakirtzis was a Greek Army officer who was dismissed twice due to participation in pro-republican coups d'état during the unstable 1920s and 1930s. In 1941, after the Axis occupation of Greece, he co-founded the National and Social Liberation (EKKA) resistance group, and later joined the Greek People's Liberation Army (ELAS) resistance group. He served as the chief of the Political Committee of National Liberation (PEEA) for the governing of liberated teritories between Mar and Apr 1944, after which he stepped down to serve as the deputy. He passed away in 1947.
