ww2dbaseNikolai Alekseevich Voznesensky was born in Tula Oblast, Russia. He was personally involved in the planning of Soviet industries as things were up until the German invasion, and also involved in the planning of the migration and re-establishment of industries toward the east during the Russo-German war. Although instrumental in Soviet economic planning during WW2, he fell out of favor with Joseph Stalin after the war. In 1949, he was implicated in the Leningrad Affair. Found guilty of treason, he was found guilty and was executed on the same day he received the guilty verdict.

Voznesensky wrote monograph The Economy of the USSR During WWII. Although the content appears rushed, with inadequate data and detail, it is the only reliable information about USSR economy for the period.

According to Edward Crankshaw in his book Khrushchev: A career, Voznessenky criticized Stalin and was tried and executed the same day. Again, according to Crankshaw, this was at the height of Stalin murdering anyone who he though threatened his power. Krushchev went along with it at the time, but later criticized Stalin for just such acts. USSR was a country taken over by a political party, and the leaders of the party had nothing but a flawed ideology.
