ww2dbaseIvan Nikitich Khabarov was born in Ryazan Oblast, Russian Empire in 1888. At the start of the Winter War in 1939, he was at the helm of the Soviet 8th Army at the rank of division commander, but was relieved of this role in Dec 1939 as his army advanced too slowly against unexpectedly fierce Finnish defenses in the Ladoga Karelia region. For the remainder of the Winter War, he served in a logistics role. He later served as the commanding officer of the Military School in the Ural Military District in Russia, and then in Dec 1943 was made the deputy commanding officer of the 2nd Shock Army. He retired from military service due to poor health in 1950 and passed away in 1960.
