WW2DB's 16th Anniversary

29 Dec 2020

2020 has been a difficult year for all of us. Many of us have lost loved ones, or perhaps suffered ourselves. With the COVID-19 pandemic foremost in our minds, perhaps WW2 history has become even more of a hobby for you, providing a productive escape from the troubles of the world that lay mostly outside of each of our direct control. If that is the case, we hope that WW2DB still provides you a valuable resource to learn about the history of the war.

Early this year, WW2DB lost a valuable member of the team, Al Griffis, to sickness. He is sorely missed by the WW2DB team. His research material, however, will continue to be organized and published on WW2DB for a long time to come.

As WW2DB turns 16 years old this year, our content continues to grow slowly and steadily. Here's a snapshot of some site statistics:

  1. 1,093 biographies (+22)
  2. 332 events (+1)
  3. 38,032 timeline entries (+896)
  4. 1,119 ships (+64)
  5. 337 aircraft models (+3)

  8. 118 historical documents (+14)
  9. 225 facilities (+20)
  10. 464 books reviewed (+1)
  11. 27,066 photos (+938)
  12. 340 maps (+29)
  13. 22621 visitor comments (+1,101)

On the social media front:

  1. 155,627 Facebook likes (-460)
  2. 28,114 Twitter followers (+4,345)
  3. 330 Reddit subscribers (+83)
  4. 16 Patreon supporters (+1)

As always, the WW2DB team wishes you a happy, productive, and healthy 2021. With the COVID-19 pandemic not yet under control, let us all keep in mind to wear masks, avoid gatherings, and, when available to you, vaccinate. Thank you all for another year of support!
