Note the damage on the horizontal stab of plane number 10. Picture had to have been taken just at the end of recovery of a strike. The active carriers this day were for the Rabaul strike with Saratoga, Essex, Bunker Hill, Independence and Princeton. There is too much island structure showing for this to be a CVL. Essex, Bunker Hill, and Independence were entering Espiritu Santo. This is then probably Saratoga at around 1300 as she recovered the Rabaul strike.
