Famous WW2 Quote
"We no longer demand anything, we want war."Joachim von Ribbentrop, German Foreign Minister, Aug 1939

The standard crew of the He 111 was five. The pilot sat back in the glazed section, offset to port. The navigator/bombardier sat alongside for take off, but for operations moved forwards to the extreme nose. In the rear was the radio operator / dorsal gunner. Two further gunners were carried, to operate the weapons in the beams and ventral gondola, which was known to the crew as the 'Stertebett' (death-bed).
