U.S., World War II

The U.S. Army and Navy employed special cutaway versions of the Colt/Browning M2 to train new gunners on the weapon's operation. Because they could not fire ammunition, the cutaway guns were mounted on a box containing electric motors that actuated the weapon's firing mechanism via levers.
