I am gathering information for a book project. One of the twenty one stories in the book is about a Marine who was with the 4th Defense Battalion at Vella Lavella. I would be interested in any combat related stories. The vet's name was William Duffey.

Famous WW2 Quote
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. You win the war by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country!"George Patton, 31 May 1944

My father, Garth Patton, was with the 4th Marine Defense Battalion on Vella Lavella. He served with Bill Noble, Don Bean, Eric Green, and Doc Harris. If anyone has pictures or other relevant material on this unit, I would be interested in knowing more about them.
