A squadron was made up of three flights of
three aircraft.
A group was made up of eighteen aircraft or two squadrons.
A wing or Stormo made up of two groups of
thirty six aircraft.
As the war continued for Italy so did the
loss of equipment and crews. At wars end
a squadron could be made up of five aircraft,
a group ten aircraft, and a wing one dozen
aircraft.
When Italy went to war in 1940 it had over
4,000 aircraft, at the time of surrender in
1943, it had 1,300 and over half were non-
operational.
