Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."Winston Churchill

There is a lot going on in this photo. All 6-inch guns have been removed from No.1 and No. 2 gun turrets and the upper section of her midships searchlight platform is hanging from a crane. With the guns removed, the edges of the gun ports offer a good idea of the thickness of the turret armor; and this is a light cruiser (meaning lightly armored). Note the jack flag flying from the top of turret No. 2 in the upper right. The jack normally flies from the jackstaff at the bow of a ship in commission any time the ship is not underway. In this case, the jackstaff has been repositioned atop turret No. 2 presumably because this will be the farthest forward part of the ship once the bow section is removed.
