This plane has only two 0.50 caliber weapons in each wing, indicating that it is not an Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat but rather an FM-1 built under license by General Motors. This would also imply that the date would have been early 1943. The small hook under the tail probably means it was used to tow gunnery target sleeves.
