Famous WW2 Quote
"Goddam it, you'll never get the Purple Heart hiding in a foxhole! Follow me!"Captain Henry P. Jim Crowe, Guadalcanal, 13 Jan 1943

Carl Eduard von Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha was a minor but interesting figure on the WWII political scene. The House of Sachsen-Coburg und Gotha was, and remains, the royal house of Great Britain and the United Kingdom [King George V changed the name to the House of Windsor during WWI because “Saxe-Coburg and Gotha” sounded too German]. Carl Eduard was first-cousins with both King George V of Great Britain and Kaiser Wilhelm II of Germany. He was the last reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha and he was a British Prince, known as the Duke of Albany, until his British titles were taken away in WWI. He was head of the German Red Cross from 1933 to 1945.
