For a 1941 picture any idea why plane does not have red "meat ball" in center of star

Curt:

You ask a good question. I have caught many dating errors through the changing markings of aircraft and vehicles. In this case, however, the red disc is present in the center of the star - it is just badly washed out in this photo. If you reduce the brightness way down and increase the contrast way up, the disc will begin to emerge. I think this photo is dated correctly and the aircraft is marked as it should have been.

Keep looking closely at these photographs and keep pointing out seeming errors – I am confident there are still plenty out there to be caught.

Famous WW2 Quote
"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
