VOLKSSTURM WAS A NATIONAL MILTIA USED IN THE LAST MONTHS OF THE WAR. BOYS AND MEN AGE 16 TO 60 WERE PRESSED INTO SERVICE MANY OF THEM HAD LITTLE MILITARY TRAINING, AND WAS ORGANIZED BY THE NAZI PARTY. MANY OF THEM DIED IN THE LAST DITCH BATTLES TO SAVE THE THIRD REICH FIGHTING AGAINST A WELL TRAINED AND EQUIPPED ARMY WAS A DISASTER. ALL THEY KNEW HOW TO DO WAS DIE, SOME OF THE VOLKSSTURM UNITS WERE ISSUED UNIFORMS, BUT MANY WENT INTO BATTLE IN CIVILIAN CLOTHES W/ THE VOLKSSTURM ARMBAND ON THEIR SLEEVE. THE FIGHTING ABILITY OF THE VOLKSSTURM WAS JUST ABOUT ZERO. MANY DESERATED, FAILED TO ANSWER A CALLUP OR SURRENDERED TO THE ALLIES THE HITLER YOUTH WAS A DIFFERENT STORY THEY FOUGHT ALMOST FANATICAL AND MANY GAVE THEIR LIFE FOR ADOLF HITLER AND NATIONAL SOCIALISM THEY FOLLOWED A MAD MAN INTO HELL... LET'S SEE WHAT LITTLE HANS HAS BEEN ISSUED LOOKS LIKE HE'S WEARING AN M43 FIELD CAP SECOND PATTERN AND AN OLD M36 OR M43 WOOL FIELD BLOUSE W/FRENCH CUFFS, THAT LOOKS A LITTLE BIG FOR HIM. MOST VOLKSSTURM UNITS HAD RANKS LITTLE HANS HAS ONE PIP, SO HE'S A CORPORAL FROM WHAT I CAN SEE. BELT BUCKLE WITH "GOTT MIT UNS" GOD IS WITH US, AND ARMED WITH THE MP40,9MM SUBMACHINE GUN, HIS ARMBAND IS A VARIATION OF THE VOLKSSTURM ARMBAND IT LOOKS LIKE A COTTON COLOR W/THE EAGLE AND DEUTSCHER VOLKSSTURM, OTHER ARMBANDS WERE RED W/BLACK LETTERS ANOTHER WAS BLACK W/WHITE LETTERS TRIMED IN RED AND WHITE, ALL HAD THE WORDS DEUTSCHER VOLKSSTURM...
