KING TIGER IN COMBAT:

THE KING TIGER WAS ISSUED TO A FEW SELECT AND EXPERIENCED UNITS, BOTH ARMY AND WAFFEN-SS.
BY SEPTEMBER 1944 ABOUT 175 MACHINES WERE AT THE FRONT.
THE NUMBER DROPPED TO 145 MACHINES BY NOVEMBER THE SAME YEAR, DUE TO BATTLE LOSSES, ENGINE FAILURE, RUNNING OUT OF FUEL AND OTHER MECHANICAL BREAKDOWNS.
PRODUCTION NUMBERS WERE OVER 219 BY February 1945
THE LAST MACHINES FOUGHT AGAINST THE RUSSIANS DURING THE BATTLE FOR BERLIN IN APRIL 1945...

LEGACY OF THE PAST:

THE GERMANS DIDN'T SHOW THE WORLD HOW TO BUILD TANKS, THEY SHOWED THE WORLD HOW TO USE THEM...

MODERN MAIN BATTLE TANKS ARE ARMED WITH POWERFUL GUNS AND MISSILES, COMPOSITE/REACTIVE ARMOR, LOW PROFILE, SPEED, CREW PROTECTION,(CBRN) CHEMICAL BIOLOGICAL, RADIOLOGICAL, NUCLEAR WARFARE.
THE PRICE FOR ONE OF THESE ARMORED MONSTERS GO AS HIGH AS $4,300,000 THAT'S IN THE MILLIONS! AND SOME OF THE WORLD'S ARMIES HAVE HOW MANY OF THEM?

ONCE AGAIN, I THANK THE EDITOR/WW2DB FOR ALLOWING ME TO LEAVE MY CONTINUED COMMENTS...

ARMORED CHARIOTS:

DID YOU KNOW THAT MOST OF THE WORLDS ARMIES
TOGETHER, HAVE OVER 100,000 TANKS IN SERVICE WORLD-WIDE. EVEN THE RUSSIAN T-34 IS STILL IN SERVICE SOMEWHERE IN THE WORLD, OR HELD IN RESERVE STATUS AS AN INFANTRY BACKUP OR SUPPORT VEHICLE.

15TH CENTURY MILITARY SECRETS:

LEONARDO Da VINCI DREW A SKETCH AND MADE A MODEL OF SUCH A MACHINE, IN 1487 BASED ON THE IDEAS OF HOW ONE WOULD LOOK.
IT WAS DESIGNED TO BE POWERED BY HORSE OR MEN TURNING GEARS WHICH TURNED ITS WHEELS, IT ALSO HAD A DOME TO DEFLECT PROJECTILES IT WAS ALSO DESIGNED TO BE ARMED WITH CANNONS.

LEONARDO PLACED MISINFORMATION IN HIS DESIGN, AS A FORM OF SECURITY IF SOMEBODY STOLE HIS DESIGN AND USED THE TANK IRRESPONSIBLY HE PLACED THE GEARS IN REVERSE ORDER WHICH WOULD MADE IT UNWORKABLE.

SECRETS THEN AND NOW:

MILITARY SECRETS ARE THE MOST FLEETING OF ALL A NATION CAN STUDY AN ENEMY OR IT CAN MAKE THE MISTAKE OF UNDERSETIMATING AN ENEMY.

CAPTURE THAT TIGER: WAR PRIZE!

Tiger II knocked out and captured in the Normandy area. Tiger was stopped in a French cabbage field

SO WHAT'S THE REAL STORY:

I've seen other photos of this Tiger 104, taken from another direction. That photo shows Tiger 104 from the right hand side with its turret facing forward.
File Photo (ww2db) shows Tiger 104 with its Porsche turret turned to the right showing its number 104 and cross insignia.

CAGED TIGER:

Tiger 104 was shipped back to the U.K. for testing However the war ended before tests were carried out. Tiger 104 is on display at the Bovington Tank Museum, Dorset, U.K.

NEW CAT IN TOWN: JAGDTIGER

Another version of the Tiger II, was the Jagdtiger
eighty-eight (88) of these anti-tank killers were built. However like their Tiger II cousins they were prone to mechanical problems w/transmissions
and differentials, needed constant maintenance, used large amounts of fuel with most lost in combat.
This monster mounted 1 x 128mm PaK 44 L/55 main gun mounted in a sloped like box superstructure.
Some Jagdtigers were armed w/88mm main gun, when the 128mm gun wasn't available.
Secondary armament 2 x 7.92mm MG34 or 2 x MG42 machine guns. The Jagdtiger operated with two German Army anti-tank units, S.Pz.JagAbt.512 and 653.

DEAD END DESIGN:

During World War II German industry produced a number of different tracked vehicles for armored and thin skinned vehicles that used interleaved/ overlapping road wheels, since the end of WWII, no other country in the postwar decades have used such a system.
A few countries in Eastern Europe salvaged and operated WWII German equipment. The Czech OT-810
was a post-war version of the German SdFz.251
half track modified to suit Czech requirements
