This may be one of the pictures my father, Ollie C. Smith sent to the USAAC archive. The plane he should have been on crashed the previous night 17 March 1944, after flying through the ash of Vesuvius. I've been trying to find information on the crash but with all the B-25's the 340th lost at Pompeii I haven't been able to find anything.
