Elra-Maschinenwerke was a weapons producer
that built fighter planes and other military equipment. The Erla Hauba canopy had less framing, and was a design improvement over the Bf 109s standard heavy framed canopy it
was offend called the Galland Hood.
The Russians captured the plant, as they steam rolled through the Fatherland, after WWII it was under control of the Russians, and later turned over to East Germany.

Some reports state that the Galland Hood actually refers to the refined cowl introduced with the G-9 model , the G-9 never went into production but a similar cowl appeared on the much used G-10 and somewhat rarer K model .

"You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs. Victory in spite of all terrors. Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."
