WHEN IN ROME:
Did you know that Mussolini had his own bunker.
The complex built, with enough room for two. It was one of 12 built for Il Duce during WWII.
In 2011 a bunker complex was discovered under the Palazzo Venezia, that houses a National Museum and that has also been a historically significant structure for centuries. This discovery wasn't revealed to the public until 2013.
DOOMSDAY PREPPER:
Work on the bunker was started in 1942, but never finished and lacked flooring, plumbing and electricity. The bunker was 860 square feet and buried beneath 50 feet of earth it was small compared to the Fuhrerbunker in Berlin.
The British knew of the bunker and planned a bombing raid against it in 1943. However, due to the ancient Roman ruins that are a few hundred yards away from the Palazzo, the RAF didn't want to take the chance of destroying the Roman Forum and the Colosseum the raid was cancelled.
TOURIST ATTRACTION:
Italian authorties plan to install lighting and a touchscreen system, and an air raid siren to simulate an Allied air raid.
YOU CAN RUN, BUT YOU CAN'T HIDE:
Mussolini never used his bunker, he was arrested by the King of Italy Victor Emanual III, and sent into internal exile in the Apennine Mountains in the summer of 1943.
Hitler sent German airborne forces to rescue him and he later setup Puppet Fascist State in Northern Italy. April 1945 Mussolini was caught by Italian Partisans shot, and hung along with his mistress.

WHAT'S MUSSOLINI THINKING...
Dai nemici mi guardo io, dagli amici mi guardi Iddio.
I CAN PROTECT MYSELF FROM MY ENEMIES, MAY GOD PROTECT ME FROM MY FRIENDS!
