Famous WW2 Quote
"I have returned. By the grace of Almighty God, our forces stand again on Philippine soil."General Douglas MacArthur at Leyte, 17 Oct 1944

P-38E "Swordfish" as a laminar flow wing testbed. The aircraft was modified into a two-seater with longer fuselage, intended as a research aircraft, to find ways to reduce drag. It was modified with laminar flow wing sections outboard of the engines.
LAMINAR FLOW:
Laminar flow is the smooth uninterrupted flow of air over the contour of the wings, fuselage or other parts of the aircraft in flight. Designed for minimum drag and uninterrupted flow of the boundry layer is called Laminar airfoil.
Did You Know:
The 1960s Chevrolet Corvette benefitted by the use of Laminar Flow.
They were Corvette's best designs, and the baddest looking cars, just standing still, the vette looked like it was moving.
The L-88 was built from 1967 to 1969.
