ww2dbaseThe Xiangyun Airfield (Postal Map romanization: Siangyun; alternate name: Yunnani) in Yunnan Province, China was used to receive C-46 Commando and C-47 Skytrain transport aircraft from India over the eastern Hamalaya Mountains route known as "The Hump". A number of photographic reconnaissance variant of P-38 Lightning aircraft was also based here after late 1944. The Americans departed in Jul 1945 and the base remains abandoned today.
