- Leaders from the Inner Mongolia region of China traveled to Ulaanbaatar in the Outer Mongolia region to meet with Outer Mongolian separatists, showing them a petition signed by tens of thousands of Inner Mongolians expressing their wish to join the separatist state. ww2dbase [Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia | CPC]
- Indian 5th Division and 23rd Division began to arrive in Surabaya, Java, Indonesian, adding 30,000 men and 24 tanks to the British garrison in the city. ww2dbase [Surabaya, Java | CPC]
- A small armed Lao Issara group, led by city officials, took control of the royal armory and the royal treasure in Luang Prabang, Laos, overcoming the few Chinese occupation administration soldiers guarding each of these installations. ww2dbase [Luang Prabang, Laos | CPC]
- Regent Pridi Phanomyong of Thailand secretly ordered weapons to be shipped to anti-French groups such as the Lao Issara and the Viet Minh. The exported weapons were mostly those formerly held by the anti-Japanese Seri Thai movement, which was armed by the Allies; Pridi Phanomyong had been the leader of the Seri Thai. Some of the captured Japanese weapons were exported to Laos and Vietnam as well. ww2dbase [CPC]
