- Louis Mountbatten's Chief of Staff, Major General Albert Wedemeyer, was ordered by General George Marshall to proceed to China to take over command of US forces in China and to replace Joseph Stilwell as Chiang Kai-Shek's Chief of Staff. - Wang Guangfu, flying a P-40N fighter, participated in a surprise second raid of the second day on Jingmen Airfield in Hubei Province, China which had already been struck hours earlier.
