- In the Dutch East Indies/Indonesia, Lieutenant Governor Hubertus van Mook, who previously held a superior attitude over Indonesian colonial subjects, met with Sukarno and Mohammad Hatta for the first time in an attempt to seek peace between the two sides. The meeting was against the wishes of the Dutch government. ww2dbase [CPC]
- Under Chinese pressure to allow non-Communist representation in his government, Ho Chi Minh brokered a deal between the Viet Minh and Vietnamese Revolutionary Alliance (Dong Minh Hoi). Within the next two months, Ho would make similar friendly moves with the Vietnamese Nationalist Party (VNQDD).
