- American destroyer Greer pursued German submarine U-652 for 2 hours 190 miles southwest of Iceland; the two ships attacked each other but no damage was inflicted on either side. - Comandante Cappellini sighted Portuguese destroyer Dão in the Atlantic Ocean at 0555 hours. At 1900 hours, she sighted an American destroyer; she submerged without being detected. At 2200 hours, she was ordered to shift to a new patrol area. ww2dbase [Comandante Cappellini | CPC]
- The first Lysander mission to France took place when a British Special Operations Executive agent was landed in a field near Issoudun, France, about 100 kilometers south of Orleans, and another was collected. - A German-controlled Dutch radio station mentioned in a broadcast that the recent rich harvests in France meant an increased supply for all of Europe. Given the general food shortages in France, the BBC made use of this broadcast as evidence that the Germans were systematically plundering France of its food without regard for the French people. ww2dbase [CPC]
