  • British destroyers HMS Faulknor, HMS Fearless, HMS Forester, HMS Foresight, and HMS Foxhound sank U-138 with depth charges 100 miles west of Gibraltar; all 27 German crew members of U-138 survived and were all taken prisoner. ww2dbase [CPC]

  • Leonardo da Vinci departed Bordeaux, France at 1345 hours and sailed northward down the Gironde estuary, reaching Le Verdon-sur-Mer, France at 1815 hours. She then set sail for a war patrol at 2150 hours. ww2dbase [Leonardo da Vinci | Bordeaux, Aquitaine | CPC]
  • Maggiore Baracca departed Bordeaux, France at 1226 hours and arrived at Le Verdon-sur-Mer, France at 1835 hours; she then sailed out of Le Verdon-sur-Mer to conduct gyrocompass tests at 1844 hours, returning at 1922 hours.
