- Submarine USS Narwhal torpedoed and damaged the Japanese river gunboat Karatsu south of Negros in the Mindanao Sea, Philippines. Narwhal was subjected to a depth charge attack from Karatsu's companion vessel with one of the charges being the closest and most damaging Narwhal had experience to date.
